The Format

WHAT IS
MLP FORMAT?

MLP format is a mixed gender team format — each team has two men and two women competing together. It's fast, social, and nothing like a standard tournament. Here's how a match works:

1
Women's Doubles
First up — two women from each team face off. First to 21, win by 2, rally scoring.
2
Men's Doubles
Two men from each team battle it out. Same format — 21 points, rally scoring.
3
Mixed Doubles × 2
One man and one woman team up for not one but two mixed doubles games. Strategy gets real here.
🏅
The Winner
The team that wins the most games takes the match. Best format in pickleball — fast, fun, and every game counts.
⚡ Rally Scoring
Every rally scores a point — serving or receiving. Games move fast.
🏆 Team Format
Men and women on the same team — everyone contributes to the final score.
🎯 No Waiting Around
Only 2 minutes between games. You're playing, not sitting around.

Who We're Playing For

POSITIVE
IMAGES

Positive Images is Sonoma County's LGBTQIA+ Community and Resource Center, founded in 1990. For over 35 years they've been a lifeline for LGBTQIA+ youth and adults across the North Bay — with emphasis on those at the margins: trans and nonbinary individuals, LGBTQIA+ people of color, Latine families, and neurodivergent people.

They run support groups, a therapy fund for people who can't afford mental health care, a leadership development program for young people, and community social events — all rooted in the belief that every LGBTQIA+ person deserves to thrive.

"I would not be the person that I am today. Positive Images jumpstarted my life and I have been flourishing ever since."
